South Boston man faces assault charge

A 40-year-old South Boston man faces a charge of assault and battery, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Joey Taylor of Jones Ferry Road, South Boston was charged with the alleged offense that occurred Dec. 17, and Deputy Joseph Tucker served the warrant Friday.

John Stephen Watts, 51, of Hamilton Boulevard, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of being drunk in public.

The alleged offense occurred Saturday, and Deputy S. Edmonds served the warrant the same day.

 Brandy Leigh English, 34, of Walters Mill Road, Providence, N.C. faces a misdemeanor charge of being drunk in public.

The alleged offense occurred Sunday, and Deputy J. L. Franco served the warrant the same day.

 Matt Lipscomb, 19, of Peach Avenue, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery.

The alleged offense occurred Dec. 17, and Deputy R. L. Compton served the warrant Friday.

 William Ellsworth Cooper III, 34, of Canterbury Drive, Halifax faces a charge of drinking and driving, according to records.

Officer T.W. Bush served the warrant Sunday, and Cooper was released on summons.

 Tarrell Lamar Traynham, 22, of Thompson Store Road, Vernon Hill faces a charge of larceny for shoplifting. 

Officer A. C. Davis served the warrant Sunday, and Traynham was released on summons.
