Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

A 22-year-old South Boston man faces a felony charge of possessing with intent to sell, give or distribute more than one-half ounce, but less than five pounds of marijuana, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Robert Lee Scott Jackson of Leigh Street was charged with the alleged offense Friday night following a stop of a four-door Chevrolet for a traffic infraction.

According to Sheriff Fred S. Clark, Dep. Tyler Clarke stopped Jackson Friday night around 8:30 on Highway 58 at its intersection with State Route 119.

As a result of the stop, a subsequent investigation led to the seizure of a large quantity of suspected marijuana and a substantial amount of cash, the sheriff said.

Clark estimated the street value of the suspected marijuana at $7,000.

Clarke transported Jackson to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax where he was later released on a $2,500 secured bond, the sheriff said.
