Hurdle Mills man faces assault charge

A 49-year-old Hurdle Mills, N.C. man faces a felony charge of assault while applying pressure, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Phillip D. McElwee of Tobacco Road was charged with the alleged offense that occurred Sept. 7, and Deputy T. H. Clarke served the warrant Friday.

Donnie Wayne Bowman, 57, of Family Court, Lexington, N.C. was issued a felony capias for a probation violation.

The alleged offense occurred Feb. 29, 2000, and Deputy D. K. Francis served the warrant Friday.

 Crystal Lynn Gordon, 32, of Old Cluster Springs Road, South Boston faces a felony charge of perjury.

The alleged offense occurred Nov. 12, and Deputy J. P. Adams served the warrant Monday.

 Rodney Dean Bowman, 47, of Watkins Avenue, South Boston faces three misdemeanor charges of truancy.

 The alleged offenses occurred Aug. 31, and Clarke served the warrants Saturday.

 Norma Louise Kaywood, 39, of Watkins Avenue, South Boston faces three misdemeanor charges of truancy.

The alleged offenses occurred Aug. 31, and Clarke served the warrants Saturday.

 Matthew Hubbard Jr., 54, of Woodbrook Avenue, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court.

The alleged offense occurred Dec. 5, and W. G. Yancey served the warrant Monday.

 Jennifer Courtney Gardner, 21, of Easley Street, South Boston faces charges of assault and battery on a family member, reckless driving and hit and run, according to South Boston Police  Department records. 

Cpl. T. N. Bratton served the warrants Sunday.
