Nathalie man faces drug, child neglect charges

A 28-year-old Nathalie man wanted on indictments for conspiring to distribute cocaine, distribution of crack cocaine and felony child neglect is being held without bond following his arrest Thursday.

Donnell LaShawn Canada, also known as “Whop” of Acorn Road, was charged after the Halifax Regional Narcotic and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant on the residence located at 2014 Acorn Road, according to Virginia State Police Special Agent R. B.  George.

Entry was made by Virginia State Police who seized a large quantity of marijuana along with one handgun from the residence, George said.

The Halifax Regional Narcotic and Gang Task Force is comprised of members from the Halifax Sheriff’s Office, South Boston Police Department and Virginia State Police.
