Halifax man faces assault charge

A 26-year-old Halifax man faces felony charges of breaking and entering with intent to commit assault and battery or larceny, third offense assault and battery on a family member, strangling another causing wounding or injury and abduction by force, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Daniel Wayne Short of K Fork Loop was charged with the alleged offenses that occurred Saturday, and Deputy S. Edmonds served the warrants the same day.

Dawn Brockenbury of Bellevue Road, Halifax faces misdemeanor charges of intentionally damaging property and trespassing.

 The alleged offenses occurred between Oct. 22, and Nov. 4, and Deputy R. L.  Compton served the warrants Monday.

 Joshua Ryan Walls, 19, of Terry’s Bridge Road, Scottsburg faces misdemeanor charges of assault and indecent exposure.

The alleged offenses occurred Friday, and Inv. T. A. Mocarsky served the warrants Saturday.

 Donna Elliott Talley, 54, of Paradise Road, Alton faces misdemeanor charges of assault on a family member and destroying a wired or wireless telephone device to prevent someone from calling law enforcement.

The alleged offenses occurred Saturday, and Deputy T. H. Clark   served the warrants the same day.

 Christopher Micheal Rutledge of Cemetery Road, Virgilina faces misdemeanor charges of using abusive language to another.

The alleged offense occurred Oct. 22, and Clarke served the warrant Friday.

 Karen Leslie Hawley, 27, of Crescent Drive, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of failure to appear.

The alleged offense occurred Wednesday, and Investigator J. M. Burton served the warrant Thursday.

 Jerry Wayne Moore, 58, of Melon Road, Sutherlin faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery of a family member.

The alleged offense occurred Oct. 31, and Edmonds served the warrant Thursday.

 Susan Melissa Wood, 31, of Covington Trail, Clover faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court.

The alleged offense occurred Thursday, and Deputy J. O. Tanner Jr. served the warrant the same day.

 Melissa Lynn Marie Schultz, 28, of Edmunds Street, South Boston faces a charge of larceny for shoplifting, according to South Boston Police Department records.

Officer C. L.  Collie served the warrant Sunday, and Schultz was released on summons.

 Ashley Autumn Vest, 23, of Azalea Lane, South Boston faces a charge of larceny for shoplifting.

Collie served the warrant Sunday, and Vest was released on summons.

 Carlos Renee Antonio Jones, 21, of Tanglewylde Drive, South Boston faces a charge of marijuana possession.

Officer J. J. George served the warrant Sunday, and Jones was released on summons.

 Michael Antoine Freeman, 39, of Poplar Creek Street, South Boston faces charges of assault and battery of a family member, strangling or choking another and being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon.

Collie served the warrants Monday, and Freeman was held on a $1,500 secured bond on the first two charges, and on a $2,500 secured bond on the weapon charge. 

 Randall Lee Norton, 42, of Ed Mason Lane, Nathalie faces a larceny charge for shoplifting

Officer C. M. Mann serving the warrant Wednesday, and Norton was released on summons.

 Pierre Lawshawn Edmunds, 25, faces a charge of trespassing.

Cpl. J.C. Berry served the warrant, and Edmunds was released on summons.

  Clarence Jay Sydnor, 54, faces charges of being drunk in public and possession of marijuana. 

Berry served the warrant, and Sydnor was taken to Blue Ridge Regional Jail where he was released when sober.
