A preliminary hearing for the suspect in the Oct. 26 breaking and entering of a South Boston home is set for Dec. 9, according to Halifax County General District Court records.
Thirty-four-year-old Michael Ryan Waddle of Dan River Church Road in South Boston was released on a $75,000 secured bond after a capias hearing in Halifax County General District Court on Friday.
Waddle was taken into police custody early Wednesday morning after violating the terms of his bond, according to authorities.
South Boston Police Captain B. K. Lovelace confirmed Waddle had defied a court order barring him from making contact by texting his victim numerous times.
Waddle was initially arrested Oct. 28 for breaking and entering the Fenton Street home of Kimberly P. Hunt after authorities executed a search warrant at his residence.
Lovelace said the alleged burglary and assault on a hound dog at the Fenton Street residence continues to be under investigation.
Due to the severe injuries the dog sustained, it had to be euthanized, according to Lovelace.
Waddle has not been charged in connection with the dog assault as of press time Tuesday.
