Suspects in South Boston robbery arrested

Two Yonkers, N.Y, women are being held in the Halifax Adult Detention Center without bond on robbery charges stemming from an incident that occurred Tuesday morning at the Jiffy Store on John Randolph Boulevard in South Boston.

According to South Boston Police Det. Randy E. Redd, 34-year-old Tawnesha S. Ellison and 24-year-old Portia S. Wiggins were charged with robbery following their arrest on Highway 360 near Scottsburg

South Boston Police Officers responded to the Jiffy Store shortly before 7:30 a.m. after receiving a report that an individual had been robbed at that location.

Witnesses told authorities two female suspects were involved, and they were traveling eastbound on Highway 360 in a silver car bearing New York tags.

Officer C. M. Mann spotted a vehicle matching the description on Highway 360 and stopped the vehicle, Redd said.

Mann arrested Ellison and Wiggins, charging each with one count of robbery.

Officers recovered an undisclosed amount of U. S. currency linked to the robbery, according to Redd.
