Three county residents were arrested Wednesday as part of an ongoing drug roundup by the Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force, according to Halifax County Sheriff Fred S. Clark.
Arrested Wednesday on drug and firearm indictments were the following:
• Antonio Dwight Woods of South Boston charged with one count of felony distribution of marijuana;
• Marcus Tyler Hughes of South Boston charged with one count of selling a firearm to a felon and one count of conspiring to sell a firearm to a felon; and
• Carmichael Jarmond Howerton of South Boston charged with six counts of distribution of cocaine.
All three are being held without bond at the Halifax County Adult Detention Center.
Clark expressed appreciation to all agencies involved with these arrests and the citizens of Halifax County that provided tips and information pertaining to this ongoing investigation.
The Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force consists of members from the South Boston Police Department, Virginia State Police and Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
