Traffic stop ends in arrest

A traffic detail on Highway 501 in the Cluster Springs area Friday evening netted five charges of marijuana possession and the arrest of a South Boston man on task force indictments for felony drug distribution and felony child neglect charges.

According to Virginia State Police Special Agent Jay George III, the pro-active initiative was conducted Friday from 5 to 11 p.m. in the Cluster Springs and Sinai communities.

Arrested was 33-year-old Dominic King of Bold Springs Road following a traffic stop around 6 p.m.

King was charged with six felonies - four counts of distributing cocaine and two counts of felony child neglect. The alleged offenses occurred Aug. 7, 8, 21 and Sept. 9.

Following the arrest, Halifax County Sheriff’s Deputy T. H. Clarke transported King to Blue Ridge Regional Jail where he was released later on a $10,000 secured bond.

During the Friday night detail, authorities seized a vehicle, suspected marijuana, scales and U. S. currency, George said.
