SoBo suspects charged in copper thefts

Three South Boston men face charges in connection with copper thefts at Daniel’s Electric Motors on U. S. 29 in Danville.

Arrested and charged Thursday night were Alphonso Blake Robertson Jr., Jamand Ladel Edmonds and Quentin David Brown, according to a news release.

Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Investigator M. D. Pickeral along with deputies made arrests in connection with several reported burglaries and grand larceny investigations.

Robertson, 26, of Cherry Hill Trail was charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of grand larceny and one count of contempt of court.

Edmonds, 24, of Poplar Creek Street, was charged with two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of grand larceny.

Brown, 26, of Porter Lane was charged with one count of breaking and entering and one count of grand larceny.

Investigators are continuing their investigation “into these suspects,” and additional arrests are expected, Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor said in a news release.

“Over the past six to eight weeks the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports from Daniel’s Electric Motors of copper being taken from their business during overnight hours,” according to a Thursday news release from the sheriff’s office.

Security cameras were able to capture the attached images of persons both inside the building and exiting the building. The sheriff’s office had asked for the public’s help in identifying these individuals.

Robertson and Brown are being held in the Pittsylvania County Jail, and Edmonds was released on bond.

All three are expected to appear in Pittsylvania County General District Court this week.
