Police: Two men invade Vernon Hill home

No arrests have been made in a home invasion that occurred at 4 a.m. Saturday at a residence on Wilson Memorial Trail in Vernon Hill.

According to Halifax County Sheriff Fred Clark, two males kicked in the front door of the residence and took an undisclosed amount of cash, a .410 gauge shotgun and a cellphone.

Clark responded to the report of a breaking and entering and was assisted by Deputies T. H. Clarke and J. O. Tanner and South Boston Police Officers J. B. Throckmorton and R. J. Mead.

The victim told officers the suspects fled the scene on a vehicle headed toward Mountain Road in Halifax.

Clark said officers continue to follow up on leads in this case, but no arrests had been made at press time Sunday.
