Police investigate rental car theft in South Boston

South Boston authorities are investigating the theft of a rental car from Enterprise Car Rentals, according to South Boston Police Capt. B. K. Lovelace.

The car theft is believed to have occurred between Saturday, Feb. 9, and Monday, Feb. 11, Lovelace said.

When the manager arrived at the store on the morning of Feb. 11, he determined the drop off key box was missing, and upon taking an inventory of the rental cars, he determined a 2012 Toyota Corolla, silver in color, was missing.

The manager then notified South Boston police, and Officer J. B.  Throckmorton responded to the scene, Lovelace said.

Later on Feb. 12 around 6:50 a.m. while doing a routine patrol, Cpl. J. C. Berry noticed the front glass of Enterprise Car Rentals had been broken out.

When the business manager arrived at the store, he checked everything and reported nothing was missing.

Berry is continuing the investigation.
