Two South Boston men are facing drug and firearm charges after the Halifax Regional Narcotic and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant on a Jefferson Avenue, South Boston, residence on Tuesday.
According to Special Agent Jay George III, 28-year-old Carmichael Jermond Howerton and 34-year-old Samuel Link Woody were arrested on the charges after South Boston Police Department and task force members made entry into the Jefferson Avenue residence.
Significant quantities of suspected cocaine and suspected MDMA (Molly) were seized, George said.
Also two firearms and a large quantity of U.S. currency also were seized. One of the firearms seized was reported stolen from a vehicle on Nov. 14 in Halifax County, the special agent added.
Howerton faces charges of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics.
Woody faces charges of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics.
George said additional charges are forthcoming against both men.
Howerton is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail with no bond, and Woody is being held on a $10,000 secured bond.
Participating in the execution of the search warrant were law enforcement officers in the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, South Boston Police Department, Virginia State Police and Halifax Regional Narcotic and Gang Task Force comprised of members of each these agencies.
