James Lloyd Terry, a 41-year-old Halifax resident, is now facing four charges in connection with the April 2011 death of Charlotte Osborne Rice, including two for capital murder during rape, the result of indictments handed down by a Halifax County Grand Jury this month.
At present, Terry is set to face two charges in a jury trial set for a date in September for capital murder during rape, one for capital murder during robbery and one for object sexual penetration by force, according to court records.
During a motions hearing in late December, the prosecution moved to nol pros two charges against Terry, one for capital murder during rape and one for rape by force or threat, with the latest action by the grand jury leaving Terry officially facing four active charges.
Six additional motions hearings in the Terry case have been set prior to a jury trial in September, the latest in December resulting in the grand jury handing down the two indictments this month.
Terry has been held without bond since being arrested in connection with the April 14, 2011 death of Rice, an 84-year-old South Boston resident.
