Grand jury indicts Nathalie man in 2012 hit and run death

A Halifax County Circuit Court Grand Jury indicted a 22-year-old Nathalie man, Anthony Aaron Beadles, on Monday for felony hit and run resulting in injury or death.

An indictment is issued by a grand jury against an individual who is charged with a crime.  Before the individual may be convicted, the charge must be proved at trial beyond a reasonable doubt.

The purpose of an indictment is to inform an accused individual of the charge against him or her so that the person will be able to prepare a defense.

The charge against Beadles stems from a two-vehicle wreck that occurred July 8, 2012, in which 61-year-old Nathalie resident Randy Blake Anderson was injured and later died.

According to Virginia State Police, the wreck occurred when the motorcycle operated by Anderson was struck in the rear by a vehicle operated by Beadles while Anderson was attempting to make a right hand turn from Clarkton Road onto Stoney Bridge Road.

Anderson was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead that same day.
