Brian Lamar Tucker, age 27, and George Chandler, age 23, each face multiple drug charges following arrests on task force indictments made earlier this month by the Halifax Regional Narcotic and Gang Task Force, Halifax Sheriff’s Office and South Boston Police Department.
According to State Police Special Agent Jay George III, task force officers conducted a surveillance operation Dec. 12 that led to the arrest of Tucker.
Tucker was a passenger in a vehicle that was followed and subsequently stopped, George said.
Although Tucker attempted to evade law enforcement by exiting the vehicle, he was taken into custody without incident.
Tucker, who had suspected cocaine on his person at the time of his arrest, was charged with one count of distributing cocaine, one count of conspiring to distribute cocaine, and more charges are forthcoming, George said.
He currently is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail under no bond.
The task force officers received information that Chandler was seeking refuge in a residence located in the Woodlawn Park area, George said.
A search of the residence led to the arrest of Chandler on task force indictments for one count of distribution of cocaine, one count of conspiring to distribute cocaine and one count of distributing less than one-half ounce of marijuana.
Shiqutta Renae Sanford also was charged with obstruction of justice for trying to harbor Chandler in the residence.
Chandler also is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail under no bond.
