Police charge Alton woman with felony

A 43-year-old Alton woman faces a felony charge of removing property with a lien without consent, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Bernice Newman of Traynham Grove Road was charged with the alleged offense that occurred between March 14 and Nov. 8, and Sgt. Q. W. Clark served the warrant Sunday.

 April Ambrose Craighead, 29, of E. Hickory Street, Covington faces a felony charge of writing bad checks and a misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended or revoked license.

The alleged offenses occurred Oct. 12 to Oct. 13, and Sunday. Deputy T. H. Clark served the warrants Sunday.

 Drucinda Newman, 20, of Traynham Grove Road, Alton faces a felony charge of removing property with a lien without consent.

The alleged offense occurred between Oct. 22 to Nov. 13, and Sgt. Q. W. Clark served the warrant Sunday.

 Quentin Jarrod Clauden, 26, of Cherry Hill Church Road, South Boston faces misdemeanor charges of assault and battery of John Hamlett, damaging a storm door and screen door belonging to John Hamlett and being drunk in public.

The alleged offenses occurred Saturday, and Cpl. S.M. Bowen served the warrants the same day.

 Shaquanta Caddle, 31, of Halifax faces a charge of third or subsequent offense shoplifting, according to South Boston Police Office records.  

The alleged offense occurred Friday, and Cpl. J. C. Berry served the warrant the same day. 

Caddle was held on a $2,500 unsecured bond.

 Brenda Adams, 62, of South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of being  drunk in public.

The alleged offense occurred Thursday, and Officer C. M. Mann served the warrant the same day.

 Brent Betts, 33, of South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of being drunk in public.

The alleged offense occurred Saturday, and Sgt. G. M. Gilliam served the warrant same day.

 John Devin III, 21, of Wylliesburg faces a misdemeanor charge of being drunk in public. 

The alleged offense occurred Sunday, and Officer J. B. Throckmorton served the warrant the same day.  

 Randall Smith, 21, of Pamplin faces a misdemeanor charge of being drunk in public.

The alleged offense occurred Sunday, and Officer R. J. Mead served the warrant the same day.
