Halifax Police investigating stolen truck

Halifax authorities are investigating the theft of a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck from the parking lot of Sunshine Mills in Halifax.

According to Lt. David Irby of the Halifax Police Department, the truck was unlocked with the keys inside when it was stolen sometime Monday.

 Police recovered the vehicle, registered to Robert S. Franklin of South Boston, at approximately 9:15 pm at Westside Village Apartments, Irby said.  

Three firearms were reported stolen from inside the pickup including a Glock 26 45-caliber pistol, a CVA Optima 50-caliber black powder rifle and a Remington 870 20-gauge shotgun.  

The firearms are valued at $1,100.

Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to contact the Town of Halifax Police Department at 476-2526 or the Halifax County Crime Line at 476-8445.  

A reward will be offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.
