SoBo police investigate Tuesday morning shooting

South Boston Police are investigating a shooting that sent a 19-year-old South Boston male to Duke Medical Trauma Center early Tuesday morning.

According to South Boston Police Officer B. K. Lovelace, officers responded to Halifax Regional Hospital at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday after a patient was admitted for a gunshot wound to the chest.

According to a police report filed by Cpl. T. B. White, the victim was transported from Halifax Regional Hospital to Duke Medical Trauma Center for further treatment. 

Lovelace said the case remains under investigation, but authorities have no suspects at this time.

“The police department has minimum information on where the shooting took place,” Lovelace added.

Detective C. L. Carswell, who is investigating the shooting, said Tuesday afternoon the victim had been uncooperative in providing information.
