Officials charge Randolph man with kidnapping, rape

A 30-year-old Randolph man faces two felony charges of kidnapping/abduction and forcible rape, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Ronald Lynn Lacks II of Colemans Ferry Road was charged with the alleged offenses that occurred June 30, and Deputy T. B. Sargent served the warrant Wednesday.

Madison, Wis., authorities apprehended 29-year-old Ronald Lynn Lacks II in July, and he was held in a Madison jail until being extradicted to Halifax County.

Until his arrest in Wisconsin, Lacks, who has ties to both Halifax and Charlotte counties, was wanted on rape and abduction charges in the county, according to Halifax County Sheriff Fred Clark.

The charges here stem from an alleged incident that occurred during the early morning hours of June 30. 

When county authorities were searching for Lacks in July, they described him as “dangerous.” 

A 33-year-old South Boston man is being held without bond on a charge of strangling, choking another, according to South Boston Police Department records.

Robert Junior Smith Jr. was charged with the alleged offense Friday.

• Najwa Yuri Womack, 18, of South Boston faces a charge of petty larceny/third offense.

She was charged with the alleged offense Thursday, and was being held on a $2,000 unsecured bond.

• Christopher James Domenici, 34, of South Boston faces a charge of larceny/shoplifting.

He was charged with the alleged offense Thursday.

• Benjamin Wilkins Owen, 24, of South Boston faces a charge of being drunk in public.

He was charged with the alleged offense Thursday.
