SoBo woman facing charges in wreck

A 29-year-old South Boston woman was charged with following too close as a result of a wreck that occurred Friday, Aug. 3, on Wilborn Avenue, 50 feet south of Easley Street.

According to an accident report filed by South Boston Police Officer R. L. Lawson, Star N. Mabins and 71-year-old Lloyd C. Bost Jr. of South Boston were both traveling south on Wilborn Avenue when Mabins, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe, struck Bost’s 2009 Volkswagen in the rear.

No one was injured.

Lawson estimated damage to the Chevrolet at $500 and damage to the Volkswagen at $3,000.

A 38-year-old Eden N. C. man was charged with reckless driving/ failure to maintain proper control following a wreck that occurred Saturday evening on Route 360.

According to an accident report filed by State Trooper K. R. Martin, John T. Jumper was driving a 2009 Suzuki motorcycle when he sideswiped a 2002 Honda motorcycle driven by Christopher McMoore of Danville. 

After striking the motorcycle, Jumper ran off the right side of the road and struck a ditch. 

No one was injured.

Martin estimated damage to the Suzuki at $1,000 and damage to the Honda at $500.
