South Boston man faces assault charge

A 27-year-old South Boston man faces a charge of felony assault with attempt to maim, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s records.

Quentin Eugene Tucker of Memorial Drive was charged with the alleged offense that occurred July 12, and Cpl. C. S. Yeatts served the warrant Wednesday.

• Daniel Wayne Arnold, 24, of Prison Camp Road, Whiteville N.C. was issued a felony capias for a probation violation.

The alleged offense occurred March 28, and Deputy W. G. Yancey served the capias Tuesday.

• Carolyn Dunn, 40, of Valley Drive, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of failing to appear in court.

The alleged offense occurred Aug. 2, and Deputy W. G. Nunn served the warrant Tuesday.

• Karleigh M. Pepper, 19, of Cartersville faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of alcohol by a minor, according to South Boston Police records.

The alleged offense occurred Saturday, and Officer R. J. Mead served the warrant the same day. Pepper was released on summons.

• James B. Maxey, 19, of Scottsville faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of alcohol by a minor.

The alleged offense occurred Saturday, and Mead served the warrant the same day. Maxey was release on summons.

• Zachery G. Davis, 18, of Rice faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of alcohol by a minor.

The alleged offense occurred Saturday, and Mead served the warrant the same day. Davis was released on summons.

• Paul C. McCarty, 20, of South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The alleged offense occurred Saturday, and Mead served the warrant the same day. McCarty was released on summons.

• Michael O. Marquez, 19, of Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of alcohol by minor.

The alleged offense occurred Saturday, and Mead served the warrant the same day. Marquez was released on summons.

• James L. Claiborne, 67, of South Boston faces two charges of having an unlicensed dog and two charges of having a dog with out vaccinations.

The alleged offenses occurred Monday, and Officer P. Murray served the warrants the same day.  Claiborne was released on summons.

• Dustin D. Farrar, 21, of South Boston faces misdemeanor charges of driving on a suspended or revoked license and failure to appear in court in Charlotte County.

The alleged offenses occurred Tuesday, and Officer T. W. Bush served the warrants the same day. Farrar was held with no bond.

 

Other reports

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a larceny that occurred Monday night near the intersection of Tobacco Road and Cody Road in Nathalie.

According to Sheriff Fred Clark, Adams Construction was doing some paving work and had left some of their heavy equipment parked there overnight. During that time, someone stole the batteries from three of the machines Clark said.

Sgt. D. H. Barksdale is investigating this case.

• The sheriff’s office is also investigating a break-in that occurred Tuesday on Burton Road in Scottsburg.

According to Clark, someone kicked open the back door and entered the home of Hollie Short. A bucket of paint was knocked over onto the kitchen floor during the process. A large amount of Jewelry, electronics, money, and firearms were stolen Clark said. A red and white Honda XR100 dirt bike was also stolen from an outbuilding on the property. Dep. Greg Yancey is the investigating officer.
