Scottsburg woman faces felony charge of grand larceny

A 28-year-old Scottsburg woman faces a felony charge of grand larceny, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Jennifer Darlene Martin of Monroe Trail was charged with the alleged offense that occurred July 8, and Deputy T. B. Sargent served the warrant Tuesday.

• Gabriel Antonio Williams, 38, of Cemetery Road, Virgilina was issued a felony capias for a probation violation.

The alleged offense occurred June 19, and Deputy J. P. Adams issued the capias Tuesday.

• Shirley Terry Majors, 49, of Sutphin Road, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery of a family member.

The alleged offense occurred July 3, and Deputy W. G. Yancey served the warrant Tuesday.

• William Scott Newton, 39, of North Terrys Bridge Road, Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery of a family member.

The alleged offense occurred Wednesday, and Yancey served the warrant the same day.

• Dionysius Jackson, 36, of Berman Drive, Danville faces a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

The alleged offense occurred Wednesday, and Deputy J. O. Tanner Jr. served the warrant the same day.  

LelaMae Brooks Jones, 58, of South Boston faces six charges of child neglect, according South Boston Police Office records.

The alleged offenses occurred Sunday, and Officer J. J. George served the warrants the same day.

Ronald Alvin Waller, 54, of South Boston faces a charge of being drunk in public.

The alleged offense occurred Wednesday, and George served the warrant the same day.

• Carl Anthony Lumpkin, 49, of South Boston faces a charge of assault and battery of a family member.

The alleged offense occurred Tuesday, and Officer A. E. Whitmore served the warrant Wednesday. 

Lumpkin is being held on a $2,500 unsecured bond.

A 15-year-old male juvenile of South Boston was issued petitions for assault of a family member and destruction of property.

The alleged offenses occurred Tuesday, and Officer T. M. Carrington served the petitions the same day.

The juvenile is currently being detained at W. W. Moore until his court date.

In other reports, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a break-in that occurred over the past few weeks on Alphonse Dairy Road in South Boston.

According to Sheriff Fred Clark, someone broke into the home of Joanne Elliott and stole a rifle, a camera and some currency.

Sgt. Q. W. Clark is investigating this case.
