South Boston police are investigating the robbery of a Berry Hill Health and Rehab Center employee that occurred late Friday night when she was walking to her vehicle.
According to South Boston Police Detective C. L. Carswell, the woman sustained an injury to her head when a male assaulted her and took her red and white purse before fleeing the scene.
Officers responded to Berry Hill Health and Rehab Center on Berry Hill Road at 11:40 p.m. and found the victim who was later transported to Halifax Regional Hospital for treatment to her injury.
The male suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male, approximately 6 feet tall in his mid 20s to early 30s with short hair. He was wearing pants and a dark button up shirt, Carswell said.
Officers continue to search for the suspect in this crime, and anyone with information is asked to call the South Boston Police Department at 434-575-4273 or the Halifax County Crime Line at 434-476-8445.
Calling the Halifax County Crime Line can lead to a reward of up to $1,000 for the arrest and conviction of the offender, Carswell said.
