Roxboro man charged with grand larceny, vandalism, gun violation

A 22-year-old man faces three felony charges of grand larceny, felony vandalism and possession of a firearm after being a convicted felon, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Timothy T. Austin Jr. of Roxboro, N.C. was charged with the alleged offenses that occurred June 25 and stem from a break-in of a 2001 Chevrolet truck belonging to Paul Mabe Sr. of Denniston Road in Alton. 

Following an investigation by Halifax County Sheriff’s Office investigators, warrants were obtained for Austin, and he was taken into custody in Roxboro, N.C., Sheriff Fred Clark said.

Deputies with the Person County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by Halifax County Sheriff’s deputies made the arrest. 

Austin was later transported to Halifax County Blue Ridge Jail where he is being held with no bond. 

Additional charges are pending further investigation by both Halifax County and Person County Sheriff’s Office, Clark said.  

The sheriff extended his appreciation to both agencies as well as the public for their assistance with this case.
