South Boston Woman faces assault charge

A 22-year-old South Boston woman faces a misdemeanor charge of assault, according to South Boston Police records.

Ceceli Edmonds was charged with the alleged offense that occurred Saturday, and Sgt. R. D. Edmonds served the warrant the same day. Edmonds was released on summons.

In other reports, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a larceny that occurred sometime between Wednesday and Saturday near Virgilina.

According to Sheriff Fred Clark, someone stole a Craftsman push-type lawnmower from a shed on the property of Keith Hughes, who lives on Mayo Loop Road near Virgilina. 

Lt. S. M. Bowen is investigating the theft.
