SoBo man faces embezzlement charges

A 36-year-old South Boston man faces two felony charges of embezzlement for leased property with a value greater than $200 according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records. 

Jerry Wayne Carter Jr. of Berry Hill Road was charged with the alleged offenses that occurred August 3 and Dec. 23 and Officer Q. W. Clark served the warrants.  

April Shavon Witcher, 34, of Wickliffe Avenue, Brookneal faces a felony charge of embezzlement for leased property with a value greater than $200. The alleged offense occurred Jan. 2 and Officer P. C. Clayton served the warrant Tuesday. 

 Nathan Valentino Allen, 23, of Mountain Road, Halifax, faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court. The alleged offense occurred March 11 and another agency served the warrant Wednsday.  

 Isaac Eugene Lewis, 22, of Ridgeway Road, Vernon Hill faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery. The alleged offense occurred Wednesday and Officer Q. W. Clark served the warrant the same day. 

 Jennifer Guevin, 42, of Henry Brandon Road, Alton, faces a charge of allowing raw sewage to run. The alleged offense occurred Sept. 16 and Officer Q. W. Clark served the warrant Wednesday. 

 April Jean Lewis, 23, of Dunn Trail, Vernon Hill, faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery. The alleged offense occurred Wednesday and Officer Q. W. Clark served the warrant the same day. 

 A 41-year-old South Boston man faces a charge of larceny for shoplifting according to South Boston Police Department records. 

Darryl James Gomes of Glendale Drive was charged with the alleged offense on Wednesday, and Sgt. R. E. Redd served the warrant. Gome was released on summons. 

 Sharonda Demetria Howard, 36, of Sinai Road, South Boston faces a charge of larceny for shoplifting. Sgt. R. E. Redd served the warrant on Wednesday, and Howard was released on summons. 

 Tommy Ray Shotwell, 41, of Shop Road, South Boston, faces a charge of larceny for shoplifting. Officer B. H. Smith served the warrant on Wednesday, and Shotwell was released on summons.  

Tony Hubbard, 52, of Woodbrook Avenue, South Boston, faces a charge of drunk in public. Cpl. A. E. Whitmore served the warrant Wednesday.
