South Boston police search for armed robbery suspect

Warrants have been issued for 19-year-old Dylan Taylor Goodson charging armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and petit larceny, and local law enforcement authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating Goodson.

Goodson is a suspect in a home invasion and armed robbery that occurred shortly before 3 p.m. last Wednesday on River Road in South Boston, according to South Boston Police Detective R. E. Redd.

When South Boston police officers responded to the residence for a report of a robbery, the victim said he was held at gunpoint by a white male, while another white male took property belonging to him including a gaming console and controller.

The victim reported that three people, two males and a juvenile female, fled the scene in a blue SUV.

Shortly after the robbery occurred, Halifax County Deputy S. Britton spotted a vehicle matching the description on Union Church Road near its intersection with Old Mill Road.

According to Redd, county deputies were joined by South Boston Police officers and Virginia State Police officers converging at a residence on Old Mill Road where the suspect vehicle was found shortly after being spotted by Britton.

A subsequent search of that residence later revealed items related to the robbery, Redd said.

Police continue to search for Goodson. Anyone having information as to his whereabouts or any other information concerning this crime is asked to contact Detective Redd at the South Boston Police Department at 434-575-7273, the E-911 Center at 434-476-3334 or the Crime Line at 434-476-8445.
