Stabbing victim has local ties

A 35-year-old Ringgold man, with ties to Halifax County, was killed Thursday evening following a stabbing at his 105 Calvin Road residence.

John Jasper Pointer was found dead at his residence when first responders and deputies arrived on the scene, according to a press release from Devin Taylor of the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s office.

Around 6:15 p.m. Thursday evening, the Pittsylvania County E-911 center received a call for service.  The caller was requesting help because a subject had been stabbed, the release stated.

First responders and deputies were dispatched to this location where they found inside the residence a deceased male, later identified as Pointer, a resident of the home.

After initial interviews, investigators charged Pointer’s wife, 36-year-old Teu Medley Pointer, with one count of second-degree murder.

Friday morning Pointer had her first court appearance when she was arraigned in Pittsylvania County Juvenile Court.

She is being held in the Lynchburg Adult Detention Center without bond, the release stated.

This matter remains under investigation by the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.
