Halifax man facing kidnapping, assault and battery charges

A 21-year-old Halifax man being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail faces a charge of kidnapping and assault and battery of a family member, according to South Boston Police Department records.

Stephen Christopher Hubbard of L. P. Bailey Memorial Highway was charged with the alleged offenses Wednesday after a Halifax County Grand Jury returned direct indictments.

Lt. Q. W. Clark served the warrants.

Melody Denise Mack, 32, of Ferry Street, South Boston faces a charge of petty larceny.

Clay issued the summons Wednesday.

 Jessica Lynn Hammock, 27, of L. P. Bailey Memorial Highway, Halifax faces a charge of petty larceny.

Clay issued the summons Wednesday.

 Kristin Taylor Overby Broxton, 20, of Bold Springs Road, South Boston faces charges of petty larceny and driving on a suspended license.

Officer A. C. Davis served the warrants Thursday, and Broxton was held on a $2,000 unsecured bond.

 Cleveland Thomas Davis, 48, of Hankins Loop Road, South Boston faces a charge of driving under the influence.

Officer T. W. Bush served the warrant Thursday.

 Michael Shane Tolley, 40, of Leda Grove Road, Nathalie faces a larceny charge for shoplifting.

Officer R. L. Lawson served the warrant Tuesday.

 Christine Marie McCullough, 42, of Thompson Store Road, Vernon Hill faces a larceny charge for shoplifting.

Cpl. J. C. Berry served the warrant Tuesday.

 Tiara Lanae Walker, 23, of Sinai Road, South Boston faces a charge of being a fugitive from justice.

Sgt. G. M. Gilliam served the warrant for Person County, N.C. authorities Tuesday.

 Kevin Chappell Sr., 48, of South Boston faces a felony charge of assaulting a police officer and two misdemeanor charges of being drunk in public and disorderly conduct.

The alleged offenses occurred Friday, and Gilliam served the warrants the same day.

The alleged offense occurred Friday, and Gilliam served the warrant the same day.

Chappell was held on a $2,500 secured bond.

 Deron Traynham, 24, of South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of assault.

The alleged offense occurred Saturday, and Officer B. H. Smith served the warrant the same day.

Traynham was held on a $1,500 unsecured bond.

 Tammy Newman, 18, of South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of assault.

The alleged offense occurred Friday, and Officer J. B. Throckmorton served the warrant Saturday.

Newman was held on a $1,500 secured bond.

 Figueroa Mendez, 26, faces a felony charge of malicious wounding. 

The alleged offense occurred Sunday, and Smith served the warrant the same day.
