Mrs. Kathyrn Butler Boxley of Ferry Street, South Boston died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 73.
Mrs. Boxley was born in Baltimore, Md. on Jan. 8, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Mr. Preston Sam Butler and Mrs. Alease Bruce Butler. She was married to the late Mr. Raymond L. Boxley and was a member of Five Fork Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Mr. Lynn Braxton and wife Wanda of Newport News and Mr. Anthony Butler and wife Tracey of Durham, N.C.; two daughters, Ms. Alease Butler and friend Mr. Aaron Smith of South Boston and Ms. Candace Braxton and fiancé Mr. Walter Brown of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Gloria Braxton and Mrs. Mary Jean Nelson, both of Hot Springs, Mrs. Delores Stewart and husband Tommy of Warm Springs and Ms. Bessie Matthews of Salemburg, N.C.; one brother, Mr. Alvin Matthews, of Clinton, N.C.; one devoted sister-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Williams; devoted cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Lacy Bruce; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including the devoted Rev. and Mrs. John Berkley, Mrs. Carolyn Parker and Ms. Pamela Austin.
In addition to her husband and parents, one infant daughter, one infant son, two brothers, Mr. Stanley Matthews and infant twin brother of Alease; and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Lee and Mrs. Alease Matthews also preceded Mrs. Boxley in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. at Five Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Moses Dixon officiating.
The family is receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
