Chamber Business Expo Set For Tuesday

The Halifax County Chamber of Commerce is inviting everyone to  Business Expo 2009, scheduled for Tuesday from noon until 4 p.m. at the Virginia National Guard Armory on Hamilton Boulevard in South Boston.

This is the fifth year of the Business Expo, and sponsors for the event are Halifax Regional Health System, Benchmark Community Bank and Cherokee Tobacco, according to Mitzi Riddle, chamber vice-president of business development.

“We’ll be giving away some great door prizes,” Riddle said. “Those attending our Business Expo will have the chance to win a flat-screen TV, a weekend getaway at a Virginia State Park or a Myrtle Beach trip and dinner at Planet Hollywood.”

A total of 38 exhibitors have registered for Business Expo 2009, Riddle said. These include Averett University, Benchmark Community Bank, Bobby Carlson Photography, Business To Business Inc., C-Action Photography, Carter Bank and Trust, CenturyLink and Cherokee Tobacco Company.

Other exhibitors include Comcast, Commonwealth Home Health Curves, Distinct Impressions Inc., Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, Family Practice Affiliates of Halifax Regional Health System, Farm Credit, Gamewood Inc./Able Telecom, Halifax County Emergency Services and Halifax County Chamber of Commerce.

Also scheduled as exhibitors include Halifax County Public Schools, Halifax Floral & Framing Studio/The Packhouse, Halifax Regional Health System, Corbin H. Pulliam CPA, Images By Swanson, Institute for Advanced Learning and Research, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Molasses Grill and Morgan Stanley.

Other registered exhibitors include the Virginia National Guard, Reiter & Reiter, Southern Office Machines Co. Inc., Southside Business Technology Council, Sun Trust Bank, Team Nurse Inc., VIRginia International Raceway, Virginia Med-Plus Inc., Virginia State Parks and WAKG 103.3 Radio.

“Anyone looking to find out more about area businesses should attend Business Expo 2009,” said Riddle.

A special Business Expo VIP Night, hosted by Four Oaks Restaurant & Lounge, is scheduled from 5 until 8 p.m. for chamber of commerce members and exhibitors, Riddle said.

“This will be a night of fun and great networking with the theme, ‘Hollywood to Halifax…Where Your Business is a Star,’” she explained. “Chamber members and exhibitors are invited to join in the celebration and dress up as their favorite Hollywood stars.”

Business Expo VIP Night is sponsored by the Halifax County Chamber of Commerce, Benchmark Community Bank, Halifax Regional Health System, Cherokee Tobacco Company and Four Oaks Restaurant and Lounge.
