Deputies Investigate Break-Ins, Larcenies

Halifax County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating several recent break-ins and larcenies, according to Sheriff Stanley Noblin.

Kimberly Davis of Halifax reported that sometime Saturday afternoon her Stovall Trail home was broken into, Noblin said. The thief or thieves broke a window and entered the residence. Items missing include a DVD player, a pair of Air Jordan sneakers and a class ring, the sheriff said.

Cpl. P. C. Clayton is the investigating officer.

Tamra Conner of Bethel Road, Scottsburg, reported that sometime Thursday night, vandals struck her property, damaging Halloween decorations in her front yard, Noblin said.

Several inflatable decorations in the yard had been cut to the point where they would not inflate. Cpl. Clayton is investigating.

Sometime during the day Friday, someone broke into George Young’s home on Cemetery Road, Virgilina and stole an undisclosed amount of money from a jar, Noblin said. 

Deputy J. P. Adams is the investigating officer.

Nothing apparently was taken when someone broke into a storage building at the Jones Store Lane residence of Sheila Younger in Halifax, the sheriff said.

Deputy Adams is investigating.

Lowell Fallen Jr. of Newbill School Road, Halifax, reported that someone stole his son’s bicycle sometime over the past few days, Noblin said. The bike is described as black with orange flames.

Sgt. Barksdale is the investigating officer.

• In other police matters, a 20-year-old Nathalie man is facing one felony charge and three misdemeanor charges, according to sheriff’s office records.
Marcus Omar Berkley of L.P. Bailey Highway was charged with felony burglary-entering a dwelling or house with intent to commit larceny, assault and battery or other felony.

Berkley also was charged with two misdemeanor counts of petty larceny and one misdemeanor count of inflicting injury to an animal.

One of the petty larceny offenses allegedly occurred Sept. 21, and the other petty larceny offense and the burglary offense allegedly occurred Sept. 23. The inflicting injury to an animal offense allegedly occurred Oct. 1.

Warrants were served Thursday on Berkley by another law enforcement agency.

• Crystal Watson, 27, Ball Park Loop, Halifax, was charged with felony arson of personal property valued at more than $200 and felony grand larceny of more than $200.

The offenses allegedly occurred Oct. 16, and Deputy C. S. Yeatts served the warrants Thursday.

• David Richard Fayer Jr., 28, W. Osborn Road, Farmville, was charged with felony being a fugitive from justice from Maryland.

The felony warrant was issued Thursday, and Deputy J. M. Burton served it the same day.

•  Robert Gene Long, 47, West Store Road, Halifax, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault and battery and one count of misdemeanor vandalism-damaging property belonging to another.

The offenses allegedly occurred Oct. 9, and Sgt. D. H. Barksdale served the warrants Monday.

• Elizabeth Marie Bailey, 41, Philpott Road, South Boston, was charged with three misdemeanors, including allowing livestock to run at large, failure to provide proof of a rabies vaccination and owning an unlicensed dog.

The offenses allegedly occurred Sunday, and Deputy W. G. Nunn served the warrants the same day.

• Michael Lee Willis-Rockett, 19, N. Terrys Bridge Road, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

The offense allegedly occurred Mar. 25, and Deputy Burton served the warrant Thursday.

• Jeremy Lee Baker, 20, Melon Road, Sutherlin, was charged with misdemeanor trespassing-entering property of another with intent to do damage.

The offense allegedly occurred Saturday, and Sgt. Q. W. Clark served the warrant that night.

• Robin Lynn McKinney, 45, Flashback Street, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor vandalism-damaging property belonging to another.

The offense allegedly occurred July 29, and Deputy C. S. Yeatts served the warrant Thursday.

• Quincy Jermaine Clauden, 25, Cherry Hill Church Road, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery of a family or household member.

The offense allegedly occurred Sunday, and Deputy S. Britton served the warrant the same day.

• Gerald Scott Jett, 36, White Street, Newton’s Trailer Court, Buffalo Junction, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery of a family or household member.
The offense allegedly occurred Sunday, and Deputy Nunn served the warrant the same day.

• Shatece Revay Breedlove, 23, Lower Liberty Road, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court, She also was served a capias alleging violation of the terms of her probation.

The contempt offense allegedly occurred Oct. 16, and the capias offense allegedly occurred April 7 of last year.

Sgt. Barksdale served the warrant and capias Thursday.

• Darrin Lee Satterfield, 21, Grubby Road, Halifax, was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court.

The offense allegedly occurred Oct. 19, and Deputy Burton served the warrant Thursday.

• Kenny Ray Davis, 39, Loop Road, Vernon Hill, was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court.

The offense allegedly occurred Oct. 19, and Deputy J. P. Adams served the warrant Friday.

• Steve Edward Conner, 31, First Street, South Boston, was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court.

The offense allegedly occurred Friday, and Deputy D. L. Medley served the warrant Monday.

• Erica Shanail Price, 23, Mossing Ford Road, Randolph, was charged with misdemeanor contempt of court.

The offense allegedly occurred Oct. 13, and Sgt. S. M. Bowen served the warrant Monday.
