‘Christmas Stories’ Theme For Annual SoBo Parade

The South Boston Christmas Parade theme Is “Christmas Stories From Books Or Films,” according to organizers. The parade is on Dec. 5 at 5 p.m.

Each parade entry is encouraged to depict a scene from its favorite book or film and will be judged on how well they entry interprets its version of the book or film.

“We chose this theme because it gives everyone an opportunity to show their creativity with the wide selection of choices available,” said Sara Davis, parade coordinator.  “The books and films include something for everyone including children’s stories, cartoon characters, comedy, drama, religious and fantasy.

“You can go to www.downtownsouthboston.com to print out an application and a suggested list of Christmas books and films that you can get ideas from,” she added.  “Each year, over the last four years, since the inception of a themed parade, our parade has grown and we expect that will continue this year.

“We are proud of our community and support for the parade each year and will continue to make it a premiere event for Halifax County and all of Southside Virginia,” Davis added.

Applications are due by Friday, Nov. 20.

Those who have questions about the parade or how to enter the parade can go to the Web site or call Davis at 575-4208.
