The Virginia Association of Housing Counselors (VAHC) recently honored Garnett Luck, Housing Intervention counselor with the Tri – County Community Action Agency, at the VAHC annual awards recognition ceremony held earlier this year.
Luck received the 2009 Award of Excellence representing the southwestern region of Virginia. The award recognized Luck for her outstanding service in the field of housing counseling and foreclosure prevention.
Luck has served as the Agency’s Homeless Intervention coordinator since the program’s inception.
She serves one of the largest geographical regions in the commonwealth, namely, Halifax, Mecklenburg, Brunswick and Charlotte counties.
In nominating Luck for this special recognition, William E. Coleman, the agency’s president and chief executive officer, said “she has carried-out her challenging duties with compassion, resourcefulness, and a sense of purpose.
“Of equal importance, Luck has mobilized other agencies, stakeholders, and volunteers to augment this program,” Coleman said.
He concluded that Luck is indeed a highly valued employee, and this special recognition is well-deserved.
