Deputies Investigate Attempted Break-In Of Scottsburg Church

Halifax County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an attempted break-in at a Scottsburg church, according to Sheriff Stanley Noblin.

The attempted break-in at St. James Baptist Church on Green Level Road occurred sometime over the past few days, Noblin said.

A rear window was removed, but it appeared no one entered the building, the sheriff added.

Sgt. D. H. Barksdale is the investigating officer.

• In other police matters, sheriff’s office records indicate a 38-year-old South Boston woman is facing a misdemeanor charge.

Michele Ann Barnett of Bane Street was charged with misdemeanor assault-threatening bodily harm to another.

The offense allegedly occurred Saturday, and Deputy T. H. Clarke served the warrant that night.

• Walter Thomas Rinderer, 28, of Lincolnton, NC was charged with felony grand larceny of $200 or more.

The offense allegedly occurred Friday, and Chief Warden S. T. Moser served the warrant Saturday.

• Rosalyn Jane Davis, 30, Nunnley’s Bridge Road, Vernon Hill, was served a capias for failure to appear in Danville General District Court on Sept. 21.

Deputy T. B. Sargent served the capias Friday.
