North Carolina Woman Charged In Saturday Crash

An 18-year-old North Carolina woman was charged with failure to yield the right of way following a two-vehicle crash in Riverdale Saturday afternoon, according to South Boston police.

Officer C. M. Mann reported Tyeshia Hilliard of Winston Salem was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier and attempted to make a left turn onto Highway 58 after pulling out of a restaurant parking lot. Mann said.

Hilliard pulled into the path of a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by 62-year-old Robert Lee Yates of Creedmoor, NC, which was traveling westbound on Highway 58. The motorcycle struck the car in the area of the back door on the driver’s side.

Mann said Hilliard was not injured in the crash, but Yates was slightly injured and was treated at the scene by EMS personnel. He did not require transport to the hospital, the officer said.

The crash occurred at 3:30 p.m. Saturday on Highway 58, 20-feet west of Highway 501. Mann estimated damages at $1,200 to each vehicle.
