Clover Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 10. A parade in downtown Clover will begin at 10 a.m. with line up on the north end of Clover at Clover General Store. The parade will travel along State Route 92 (Main Street) and end just past Saint Matthews Baptist Church, a distance of just over one and a half miles.
“This year we will be having trophies for fire trucks, cars, trucks, tractors, horses, floats and groups along with participation ribbons for each entry. We want to make this the best parade ever,” said Clover Volunteer Fire Department Fall Festival Committee member Bert Martin.
“This year’s event promises to be one of our best,” he added.
This year’s giveaways include a grand prize of $1000 in cash for the first place prize. The second place prize will be $500, and a cash third place prize of $250 also will be awarded.
Cost of the tickets for the grand prize drawing is just $3 each. Tickets are available from Clover VFD members and will be on sale throughout the day until the drawing at 7 p.m.
“What would our Fall Festival be without entertainment and food?” Martin asked.
Friends at Clover United Methodist Church will cook Brunswick stew. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and French fries hot off the grill along with ice cold drinks will be served by members of the CVFD.
For supper, Jessie “Bubba” Cousins and wife Gloria will have their world famous pork barbeque or fried chicken tenders with choice of baked beans, French fries, slaw, roll or hushpuppies, and drink with desserts by friends at Clover Baptist Church.
For the kids, Martin said several different inflatables will be provided for them to enjoy, and parents can buy an all-day ticket for $10, so they can play all day long.
“The ever-popular dunking booth will be in place, and we plan a long list of dunkees,” Martin added.
“We look forward to seeing you in Clover on Oct. 10 for a day of fun and fellowship,” festival organizers said.
