Catalytic converter stolen from pickup in Town of Halifax

Halifax Police Department is investigating a theft that was reported on Saturday from Halifax Homes at 5245 Halifax Road.  According to a report filed by Halifax Police Officer S. M. Comer, a muffler and catalytic converter were taken from a 2002 GMC pickup parked on the lot. 

Comer valued the muffler at $100 and the catalytic converter at $150.

Anyone with any information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Halifax Police Department at 476-2526 or call the Halifax County Crime Line at 476-8445.

If that information leads to an arrest and conviction, the informant may be eligible to receive a cash reward, according to Halifax Acting Police Chief D. D. Irby.

A 42-year-old Alton man faces a misdemeanor charge of violating a protective order, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records.

Len Clay of New Bethel Road was charged with the alleged offense that occurred Dec. 12, and Deputy C. S. Yeatts served the warrant Monday.

Shona Renee Morsy, 25, of Sinai Road, Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of assault on a family member.

The alleged offense occurred Sunday, and Deputy C.S. Hudson served the warrant Monday.

John Thornton Miller Jr., 60, of Vernon Hill faces a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Halifax Police Department Chief Irby.

Officer W. R. Wilmoth served the warrant Sunday.
