Survey deadline looming in Halifax superintendent search

The deadline for completing a criteria survey in the search for a new school superintendent for Halifax County is Monday.

As of Thursday morning, Halifax County residents had completed and submitted 331 surveys, eight of those being submitted as hard copies.

Hard copies are available at every school, public library and the central office and can be returned to the nearest school or central office.

Online surveys can be found on the Halifax County Public School website and The Gazette-Virginian website.

Superintendent Paul Stapleton announced last year he will resign effective July 1.

Halifax County School Board will use the services of the Virginia School Board Association in its search.

School board members anticipate paying a minimum fee of $12,000 for the state association.

A public hearing for public comment on the superintendent search will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at the Mary Bethune Complex in the public conference room.
