South Boston man faces drugs charges

A 29-year-old South Boston man faces felony drug charges of distributing a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance and selling marijuana, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office records. Antonio Dwight Woods of Lincoln Drive is charged with the alleged offenses that occurred May 24 and June 27 of last year, and Deputy C. S. Yeatts served the warrants Thursday.

• Robert Wayne Compton, 27, of Clarkton Road, Nathalie faces a felony charge of violating his probation.

The alleged offense occurred Thursday, and Deputy W. G. Nunn served the warrant Friday.

• Michael Blake Vaughan, 34, of Slick Rock Road, Nathalie faces a felony charge of failure to appear in court, two misdemeanor charges of failing to appear in court and four misdemeanor charges for surety capiases.

The alleged offenses occurred Feb. 2, Feb. 3 and Feb. 13. Deputy T. A. Mocarsky served the warrants Saturday, and Deputy P. C. Clayton served the rest of the warrants Monday.

• John David Newcomb, 30, of Wilson Memorial Trail, Vernon Hill faces a felony charge of violating his probation.

The alleged offense occurred Sept.1, and Deputy J. P. Adams served the warrant Monday.

• Joseph Ward Mosier Jr., 24, of Mountain Road, Halifax faces a misdemeanor of driving on suspended license.

The alleged offense occurred Friday, and Deputy T. H. Clarke served the warrant the same day.

• Brooks Deshaun Boyd, 29, of Lennig Road, Nathalie faces a misdemeanor charge of making threats over a telephone.

The alleged offense occurred Feb. 26, and Deputy S. Britton served the warrant Friday.

• Karen Anderson Walker, 38, of L.P. Bailey Memorial Highway, Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of violating a juvenile protective order.

The alleged offense occurred Thursday, and Adams served the warrant Friday.

• Wayne Earl Burgess, 56, of Liberty Road, Nathalie faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery on a family member.

The alleged offense occurred Feb. 29, and Deputy C. S. Hudson served the warrant Friday.

• Marilyn Harris Wilson, 76, of Crescent Drive, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery.

The alleged offense occurred Feb. 27, and Deputy D. H. Barksdale served the warrant Saturday.

•  Roy Preston Conner, 48, of Love Shop Park Road, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery of a family member.

The alleged offense occurred Saturday, and Deputy C. A. Bates V served the warrant the same day.

• Ralph Lee Williams, 47, of Red Bank Road, Virgilina faces a misdemeanor charge of being drunk in public.

The alleged offense occurred Sunday, and Deputy A. W. Britton served the warrant the same day.

• Dallas Lorenzo Guy, 51, of Huell Mathews Highway, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery of a family member.

Bates served the warrant Sunday.

• Dixie L. Perkins, 21, of Boxwood Trail, Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery of a family member.

The alleged offense occurred Monday, and Clayton served the warrant the same day.

• James Wesley Perkins, 52, of Boxwood Trail, Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery.

The alleged offense occurred Monday, and Clayton served the warrant the same day.

• Dick Melvin Walker Jr., 43, of L. P. Bailey Memorial Highway, Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery of a family member.

The alleged offense occurred Monday, and Deputy T. B. Sargent served the warrant the same day.

•  Brenda Lee Chappell, 48, of Thompson Store Road, Vernon Hill faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery of a family member.

The alleged offense occurred Monday, and Adams served the warrant the same day.

• Lindsey Dorisay Crews, 25, of Stage Coach Road, Gretna faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license.

The alleged offenses occurred Monday, and Clarke served the warrants the same day.

•  Ulysses Maurice Sherman, 53, of Munday Road, Roxboro, N.C. faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court.

The alleged offense occurred Monday, and Clayton served the warrant Tuesday.

In other sheriff’s office reports:

Deputies were busy Monday morning investigating numerous reports of mailbox vandalisms that occurred along Dudley Road in the Crystal Hill area, Sheriff Fred Clark said.

“They apparently occurred during the night,” he said.

Some stop signs also were knocked down, and authorities believe the culprit used a vehicle to vandalize the signs and mailboxes.
