The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office answered a total of 1,141 calls for service in January, according to Sheriff Fred Clark. Sheriff’s deputies issued 39 citations, served 1,490 civil papers and made 90 arrests in January.
The department transported a total of 86 mental patients and inmates, both in and out of the county and state and traveled a total of 59,053 miles in accomplishing those tasks, Clark said.
• In Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reports, a 27-year-old Nathalie man was charged Friday with possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Robert Wayne Compton of Clarkton Road was charged Friday for the alleged offense that occurred Jan. 9.
Deputy J.O. Tanner Jr. served the warrant.
• Maria Joanne Lucado Holt, 28, of Owens Avenue in South Boston was charged Friday with misdemeanor trespassing.
The alleged offense occurred Jan. 23, and Cpl. C. S. Yeatts served the warrant.
