Want to help in the search for the next county school superintendent? Halifax County School Board on Thursday posted a survey to assist in the superintendent search. It is now available online to the community at the Halifax County School website.
Superintendent Paul Stapleton announced last year he will resign effective July 1, and the search for a new superintendent is in full swing.
Two representatives of the Virginia School Board Association visited Tuesday reviewing procedures and establishing a search timeline with board members.
In addition to being available at the school’s website, the superintendent search criteria survey is available in hard copies at every school, the public libraries and at the central office.
Hard copies should be returned to the nearest school or central office.
The deadline for all surveys is Monday, Feb. 13.
A public hearing has been set for Monday, Feb. 13, to receive comments from the community on what they are looking for in their next school superintendent. The public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. in the public meeting room of the Mary Bethune Complex before the regular monthly school board meeting.
