Halifax County authorities probe thefts

Halifax County authorities are investigating a rash of thefts that occurred over the past few days.

According to Sheriff Fred Clark, sometime during the past week, someone stole a red and black electric fence power box from the property of Barkley Fisher of Thornton-Jim Trail in Nathalie.

Dep. Craig Spencer is investigating the theft.

Numerous catalytic converters have been reported stolen in recent days, Clark said.

The converters were cut from beneath two trucks parked on the lot of Paul Mabe’s Plumbing, located on James D. Hagood Highway in South Boston sometime over the past few days.

Dep. Chris Hudson is handling this investigation.

Dep. John Tanner also was called to P & J Auto Sales on Cluster Springs Road to investigate a report of another catalytic converter being stolen from a vehicle parked on the lot over the past few days.

In other Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reports:

A 37-year old Richmond man faces a felony charge for a probation violation.

Alvin Eloid Reavis Jr. of Laurel Oak Road was charged Friday for the alleged offense that occurred on Jan. 12.

Deputy J.O Tanner served the capias.

Terrence Jermaine Prunty, 20, of Mallard Lane, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of making threats over the phone.

The alleged offense occurred Wednesday, and Deputy S. Edmonds served the warrant on Thursday.

Amy Elliott Zimmerman, 45, of Virgilina Road, Virgilina faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court.

The alleged offense occurred on Thursday, and Cpl. P.C. Clayton served the warrant on the same day.
