Prizery keyed up for piano celebration

It’s time for celebration and dedication.

The work has been done, the money has been raised, the piano has been purchased.

The Steinway Committee will present its Concert Grand piano to The Prizery at an official dedication ceremony to be held Sunday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m.

“Our community has come together to make a positive impact on the arts by providing this quality instrument to our performing arts center,” said Steinway Committee member Frances Harrell.

The Steinway Concert will feature a special choral performance of the late Kenneth Cranford’s music, the Ranier Piano Trio and selections by vocalists Alison Streeter and Ellen Haskett.

The piano will be dedicated in memory of Cranford, and the Steinway concert will memorialize Cranford’s gift of music to the community.

“He shared his gift with vitality and an infectious enthusiasm composing extensively for choir, piano and organ and writing over 100 original compositions before his untimely death,” Harrell said.
