A new CVS drug store, under construction for several months at the intersection of Halifax Road and Old Halifax Road in South Boston, will open for business Sunday morning, according to Mike DeAngelis, CVS director of public relations.
The new 13,225-square foot store consolidates two existing CVS locations in South Boston, one in Hupps Mill Plaza Shopping Center and one in Halifax Square Shopping Center.
DeAngelis confirmed Tuesday that Bob Albertston, currently store manager at the Halifax Square CVS store, has been named manager at CVS’s new location.
DeAngelis said Tuesday the new store would carry a wider selection of items currently offered at the Halifax Square and Hupps Mill locations, with wider display aisles, in addition to offering a drive-in pharmacy.
The hours of operation would be more in line with those of other free-standing CVS stores, but the store will not be open 24 hours, he added.
DeAngelis said the Hupps Mill and Halifax Square stores would remain open until Saturday evening, when they will close at their normal times.
Merchandise will be moved overnight in time for the new CVS store to open the following morning.
There will be no ribbon-cutting ceremony, DeAngelis noted.
“We’re looking forward to providing more enhanced, efficient service to the South Boston area,” DeAngelis said Tuesday.
