A 48-year-old South Boston man was stabbed in the leg Monday, and South Boston Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, according to Det. C. L. Carswell. Charles Claiborne of South Boston was bleeding heavily from his leg when South Boston Police Officers responded to 1116 Cole Street for the complaint of a stabbing shortly after 7 p.m., Carswell said.
The injury was reported to be inflicted from a knife, the investigator said.
Claiborne was transported to Halifax Regional Hospital where he was treated before being transported to the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, according to Capt. B. K. Lovelace.
On Tuesday afternoon, Claiborne was listed in stable condition, according to a nurse at the Medical College of Virginia.
South Boston police are still investigating the incident.
