Halifax man charged with embezzlement

A 30-year-old Halifax man faces five felony counts of embezzling more than $200, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Clyde Jason Howerton of Murphy Grove Road, Halifax was arrested on the charges Nov. 19.

The five alleged felony offenses occurred Jan. 1, 2009, July 1, 2009, Jan. 1, 2010 and July 1, 2010.

Deputy J. P. Adams served the warrants.

• Corey Thomas Angel, 18, of Slick Rock Road, Nathalie faces a felony charge of grand larceny.

The alleged offense occurred Aug. 5, and Cpl. P. C. Clayton served the warrant on Nov. 19.

• Amanda Dawn Harlow, 29, of John Henry Brown Road, Clover faces a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court.

The alleged felony offense occurred Sept. 13, and the alleged misdemeanor offense occurred Oct. 17.

Adams served the warrants on Nov. 18.

• Nathaniel Gronwy Owen, 29, of Scottsburg Road, Scottsburg faces a felony charge of grand larceny.

The alleged offense occurred Oct. 1, and Sgt. D. H. Barksdale served the warrant on Nov. 22.

• Taneisha Venable, 20, of Ferry Street, South Boston faces a felony charge of violating a custody visitation order.

The alleged offense occurred Thursday, and Sgt. Q. W. Clark served the warrant the same day.

• Henry Hughley Boyd, 39, of Acorn Road, Nathalie faces two felony charges of grand larceny.

The alleged offenses occurred May 11, and Deputy A. W. Britton served the warrants on Friday.

• Steven Jerome Grace, 44, Bancroft Street, South Boston faces two felony counts of being a convicted felon with a firearm and a misdemeanor count of brandishing a firearm.

The alleged offenses occurred April 13, and Deputy W. G. Nunn served the warrants on Nov. 23.

• James Fletcher Grove, 48, of Mason Chapel Road, Alton faces a felony count of kidnapping and a misdemeanor count of assault and battery of a family member.

The alleged offenses occurred Aug. 16, 2010, and Nunn served the warrants on Nov. 23.

• Allen Wayne Cullop, 31, of Millstone Church Trail, Nathalie faces a felony count of child neglect.

The alleged offenses occurred Nov. 19, and Deputy C. A. Bates V served the warrant on Saturday.

• Dakota Wayne Gray, 18, Crows Road, Gladys faces a felony charge of grand larceny.

The alleged offense occurred Saturday, and Deputy J. O. Tanner served the warrant on Sunday.

• Ronnie Dwayne Chappell, 33, of Love Shop Park Road, South Boston faces a felony count of possession of a controlled substance.

The alleged offense occurred Jan. 20, and Clark served the warrant on Monday.

• Annie Dora Randolph, 63, of Mountain Road, Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court.

The alleged offense occurred March 29, and Tanner served the warrant on Saturday.

• Andre Darnell White, 26, of Mt. Tabor Road, Keeling faces a misdemeanor count of DUI.

The alleged offense occurred Sunday, and Deputy T. H. Clarke served the warrant on the same day.

• Robert Andrew Clay, 40, of White House Road, Nelson faces a misdemeanor charge of DUI.

The alleged offense occurred May 30, and Clayton served the warrant on Nov. 19.

• Holly Nicole Craighead, 26, of Black Walnut Road, Randolph faces misdemeanor counts of vandalism and assault and battery.

The alleged offenses occurred on Saturday, and Britton served the warrants the same day.

• Tree Jedkins Morris, 55, of Parker Avenue, South Boston faces misdemeanor charges of DUI and refusing a blood/breath test.

The alleged offenses occurred Sunday, and Britton served the warrant the same day.

• Timothy L. Roberts, 42, of NC 39 North, Henderson, N.C. faces a misdemeanor count of assault and battery.

Deputy W. G. Yancey served the warrant on Monday.

• Andrea Donnell Jones, 20, of Bancroft Street, South Boston faces a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court.

The alleged offense occurred Monday, and Clark served the warrant the same day.

• Richard Noell Puckett, 46, of MacDonald Road, Scottsburg faces misdemeanor counts of driving on a suspended or revoked license and DUI.

The alleged offenses occurred June 25, and Clark served the warrants on Monday.

• Jeffrey Leroy Sydnor, 55, of Gatha Trail, Halifax faces a misdemeanor charge of drunk in public.

The alleged offense occurred Nov. 21, and Clarke served the warrant the same day.

• Charlie Herman Davis, 60, of Thompson Store Road, Vernon Hill faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery of a family member.

The alleged offense occurred Friday, and the warrant was served the same day.

• Lisa Ann Lewis, 43, of Chestnut Road, Nathalie faces a misdemeanor charge of drunk in public.

The alleged offense occurred Nov. 23, and Deputy C. S. Hudson served the warrant the same day.

• Kelvin Jerome Lacks, 55, of Black Walnut Road, Clover faces a misdemeanor charge of DUI.

The alleged offense occurred Friday, and Clarke served the warrant the same day.

• Damion Rashon Davis, 22, of Buffalo Road, Long Island faces a misdemeanor charge of drunk in public.

The alleged offense occurred Saturday, and Clarke served the warrant the same day.

•  Sometime over the Thanksgiving holiday, someone shot out a window in the back of Clays Mill Elementary School, apparently with a BB gun or pellet rifle, according to Capt. Steve Cassada of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

School officials discovered the damage when the school re-opened Monday.

Sgt. Clark is investigating the vandalism.
