Pair pleads guilty to larceny charge in Halifax court

A pair of co-defendants pleaded guilty to petty larceny Monday in Halifax County Circuit Court after reaching plea agreements with the commonwealth.

Eric Justin Adkins, 20, of Alton pleaded guilty to petty larceny from William E. Milam Jr.

Pursuant to a plea agreement, the court sentenced Adkins to 12 months in jail, with all suspended conditioned on Adkins’ good behavior for one year.

The court ordered Adkins to pay $100 restitution to Milam jointly and severally with his co-defendant in the case.

Thomas Michael Cody, 19, of South Boston also pleaded guilty to petty larceny from William E. Milam Jr.

Pursuant to a plea agreement, the court sentenced Cody to 12 months in jail, with all but two weeks suspended, conditioned on his good behavior for 12 months.

The court ordered Cody to pay $100 restitution to Milam jointly and severally with Adkins, and it ordered Cody to have no contact with his victim.

The offenses for which Adkins and Cody were convicted occurred Feb. 8, according to court records.

Other Court Cases
• Cristina Nicole Baker, 22, of Alton was convicted Monday of a first offense of driving with a revoked operator’s license and possession of a Schedule I/II controlled substance.

Baker was released on $15,000 unsecured bond to await sentencing set for the July court term.

• Amanda Brown Barksdale, 41, of South Boston was convicted Monday of a probation violation.

The court revoked 48 hours of Barksdale’s previously suspended prison sentence, and it ordered Barksdale placed on probation for six months.

• Robert Edward Zimmerman, 43, of Virgilina had a charge against him for a probation violation dismissed Monday.
