Halifax Regional Health System’s Healthy Living EXPO 2011 will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the lobby and gymnasium of Halifax County High School.
The community is invited to participate in this free health fair which includes screenings, display booths, giveaways, healthy snacks and much more.
For those who have been wondering just how healthy they are, the Healthy Living Expo 2011 is a good place to find out.
Screenings for cholesterol, blood glucose, blood pressure and body mass index will be available. Call 434-517-3094 to reserve a time for the cholesterol/blood glucose finger stick.
Those who are concerned about depression and anxiety can participate in a screening and discuss it with the experts from the Center for Behavioral Health.
Worried about oral cancer? Dr. James Priest will be present for oral cancer screenings.
For those who have concerns about their weight, they’ll be able to ask questions and receive answers from those in the know. Learn all about healthy eating habits and how to begin a diet and exercise program and gather tips for sticking to it.
At the Expo atendees can learn about Halifax Regional’s cardiovascular services including cardiac catheterization, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and respiratory therapy. Learn the heart healthy way of life and gather useful information on recognizing the risk factors of heart attack and stroke.
Educational booths will provide participants with helpful information regarding advance directives, home health and hospice, long term care, radiology services, rehabilitation services, diabetes, safe use of medications and infant and child safety.
Representatives from the Alzheimer’s Association, the Halifax County Cancer Association, the YMCA, the American Red Cross, the South Boston Police Department, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and the Social Security Administration will be there to answer any number of questions that will help persons live a healthier life.
